Let’s get Saucy!

Saucy’s in Charleston, South Carolina is the go to spot to buy hot sauces, condiments, and novelties. They focus on selling small batch and local hot sauces but also have a range of popular and international hot sauce brands. When taking on this project I wanted to create a brand that reflected a vintage ma and pa shop feel.

Creating Saucy’s brand identity has to have been one of my favorite projects I’ve worked on. I was able to use the 1930s rubber hose cartoon style to create a vintage inspired brand. I decided to build out the brand identity from my first character Saucy. From there, I studied lots of vintage billboards and signage to come up with the typefaces to mix and match to create the perfect amount of playful yet curated and specialty store energy.

Saucy’s Spice Guide

Saucy’s spice guide is a brochure like informational guide on the different types of hot sauces and spice levels carried at Saucy’s. The guide is intended to help those who might need assistance picking out the perfect sauce for their individual palette. The guide includes a backstory about the business and the owner, a thermometer spice scaling tool to help customers find sauces they might like, an ad for the stores very own house made hot sauce, and an introduction to more characters and brand elements.
